David Obia - President & Founder

David Obia is a seasoned operator, founder, and licensed General Contractor in California, combining business acumen with hands-on entrepreneurial experience. His career reflects a balance of strategic financial expertise and the practical realities of building and scaling businesses, particularly within the trades.

After graduating from the University of Michigan, David began his career in investment banking at Goldman Sachs, where he supported over $1 billion in M&A transactions. This early experience instilled a strong foundation in client service, deal structuring, and strategic growth.

Motivated by a desire to build and create—an ethos inspired by his immigrant parents—David transitioned from banking into entrepreneurship. He successfully exited a financial payments start-up, acquired an IT services business, and ultimately found his calling in the trades. Most recently, he founded Aqua Concierge Restoration, a water, fire, and mold restoration business, where he built a reputation for managing complex projects, delivering white glove service, and developing strong client relationships.

Today, David is focused on partnering with business owners who are exploring succession or growth alternatives. He brings an operator's lens to every opportunity, emphasizing team culture, operational excellence, and sustainable value creation. His long-term vision is to build a holding company of essential services businesses, led with his family values and high integrity.

David's work is rooted in family and community. In 2022, he married Kayla Obia in Montecito, California—the inspiration behind Toro Canyon Capital Partners. Kayla, an experienced investor in small and medium businesses, has been his thought partner across ventures, while her father, a longtime General Contractor, has further shaped David's knowledge of the trades. Together, they are raising their young son, Geo, and pursuing their vision of building a lasting family business.

David is also deeply engaged in community service. Following the devastating January 2025 fires in Pacific Palisades and Altadena, he actively contributed to rebuilding efforts, applying both his expertise and resources to help restore affected neighborhoods. He is also involved in local business networks, including Business Network International and the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce.
